The drafting an announcement of a new constitution after the decades of struggling in Nepal is an extraordinary achievement.
I appreciate the contribution of the political leadership and all sections of the society in Nepal in its making.
But its success depends on consensus and dialogue. I am confident by these principles and through political discussion and by taking all sections together.

Asking if the Nepalese Prime Minister can address India’s concerns, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar says the tone and tenor of the visit were forward-looking, adding assurances giving on addressing grievances within Nepal if left unaddressed may detracting the country from stable.
It was not a recriminatory visit. It is a forward-looking visit. It is a visit in a cooperative sense, minister says, replying to a barrage of questions on whether India was satisfied with Nepal’s assurance on the issues relating to new Constitution.

On whether India was worrying about Nepal getting closer to China, Jaishankar rejecting such apprehensions saying the word China did not come up in the talks.

Ties between the two countries had to sour in the wake of agitation by the Madhesi community, which shares close family and cultural relationships with the Indians, saying it is failing to address their concerns over representation and homeland.
The agitators have blocking trading points for almost four months crippling supply of petroleum products, medicines and other commodities by India to that country. The blockade is lifting this month.
The Madhesi community is opposing to the carving of seven provinces under the new Constitution and has demanded adequate protection of their rights.
Three significant demands of the Madhesi community including re-demarcation of the boundary, inclusion of proportionate representation and allocation of Parliament seats from the population.
Jaishankar says the issues within Nepal has affected India. He says two points including the one relating to the provincial boundary are resolving while hoping that concerns by the Madhesi community about citizenship will also address.

India will supply 80 megawatts of power through a line to Nepal now, and it will enhance to 600 MW in the next two years.

Modi is also offering to set up Ayurvedic colleges in Nepal by India while talking about possible areas of cooperation.

The agreements signing today will provide for cultural cooperation and facilitate trade between Nepal and Bangladesh through Kakarbitta-Banglabandh corridor and through of Vishakapatnam port.
Under the MoU on the strengthening of road infrastructure, a total of 518 km of roads will strengthen in Terai region border India.
As per a pact on transit routes, traffic of goods between Nepal and Bangladesh will facilitate Kakarbhitta in Nepal and Banglabandha in Bangladesh’s corridor.
It will also provide transit facilities for Nepal through the Vishakhapatnam port.
Separating pact on rail transport to and from the Vishakhapatnam and rail transit facility through the Singhabad for Nepal’s trade with a Bangladesh inking.
In their talks, the two sides are also deliberating in promoting sub-regional cooperation in trade, power and some other sectors.
The Nepalese Prime Minister is mentioning about India’s assistance to Nepal after a devastating quake strikes it.
He also appreciates India’s announcement of USD 1 billion for reconstruction projects out of which USD 250 million is releasing.
