CAT 2018 Results Declared; Here are the Expected Cutoff for IIMs and Non-IIMs MBA Colleges:
CAT 2018 was conducted by IIM Lucknow on November 25, 2018. More than 2 lakhs candidates appeared for the examination this year at several test centres across the country. The CAT Result was recently declared on January 5, 2018. The CAT topper for 2018 has secured 100 percentile.

CAT scores are accepted by the 20 IIMs and other top B-Schools in the country. Scores for CAT are normalized and converted into a percentile score. The percentile cut-offs are decided by each of the admitting institutes on the basis of which candidates are admitted to MBA or PGDM courses. The CAT Cutoff for IIMs and Non-IIM colleges in India will be released by the institutes on their websites very soon. Candidates can check their scores to decide which institutes they will be eligible to apply. CAT 2018 score will be valid for the academic session 2019-2021.
CAT 2018 Cut off
The percentile cut off for CAT for each B-School depends on several factors. Those are –
- The total number of aspirants appearing for the exam.
- The number of qualified candidates
- Difficulty level CAT question exam.
- The number of available seats in the institute.
- Ranking of the institute.
CAT Cutoff for top B-Schools including the older IIMs (IIM-A, IIM-B, IIM-C, IIM-K, IIM-I, IIM-L,) and institutes like MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR Mumbai, FMS (University of Delhi), RGIIMS etc. can be as high as 99 percentile. For the newer IIMs (IIM Sambalpur, IIM Ranchi, Raipur, Rohtak, Udaipur, Trichy and Kashipur) and several other leading institutes, cutoff can be around 90 percentile or above.
For tier two to four management institutes, cutoff can be around 80 percentile. Candidates will have to clear the overall cutoff as well as the sectional cut-off declared by the B-Schools to be eligible for admission.
CAT cut off varies for General, SC, ST and PWD candidates. The cut off for General candidates are higher, around 90 to 100 percentile for the IIMs. The reserved category candidates have some relaxation on their cut-off.
Admission to Top B-Schools
The final admission to any of the IIMs or a B-School in India will be based on the CAT 2018 score and marks of the GD/PI or Written Ability Test (WAT). Some of the parameters that determine the eligibility of a CAT qualified candidate to get admission in one of the top management colleges in India are –
- CAT percentile/score
- GD/PI/WAT scores
- Overall academic performance until CAT
- Academic diversity
- Gender diversity (for IIM A)
- Work Experience (if applicable).
Expected Cutoff for CAT 2018

Students who will be able to secure more than the overall cut off and the sectional cut off released by the institutes will be called for GD/PI/WAT rounds. Most of the leading management colleges in India conduct their admission processes around February till March. Successful candidates are offered the letters for admission between April and May. Candidates should confirm their eligibilities and the cutoff for CAT 2018 from the official websites of the institute they apply to.
